01 / THE MISSION
THE LITTLE LAP / TASMANIA 2026

Fourteen days of exploring — and capturing the adventure as we go.

The Little Lap is a two-week motorcycle adventure around Tasmania beginning 13 November 2026. Three riders, three BMW F 450 GS motorcycles and a deliberately flexible route built around the best roads, landscapes and conditions we can find.

This is not a tightly scripted production. We will ride, camp, explore and adapt in real time — using the bikes and equipment as they are intended to be used, while building a chronological photo and video story of the trip.

02 / WHY TASMANIA?
BIG LAP // LITTLE LAP

The Big Lap gets the limelight. We have two weeks.

So we're doing The Little Lap.

Doing the “Big Lap” of Australia is a bucket-list road trip — but it normally demands months on the road. We don't have six months or unlimited funds. We do have a couple of weeks, and we want to show that the Little Lap can be just as good.

Tasmania compresses an extraordinary range of scenery, riding roads and conditions into a relatively small area. Fast flowing bitumen, gravel, mountains, rainforest, wild coastline and unpredictable weather can all feature within the same trip.

For two weeks on adventure bikes, it may be the best playground in Australia.

04 / THE OPPORTUNITY
REAL TRIP / REAL PRODUCT USE

The bikes and gear aren't props. They're the tools that get us through.

The Little Lap is a natural environment for showcasing motorcycles, apparel and equipment in the situations they were designed for: long hours in the saddle, changing surfaces, camps, coastal wind, mountain roads and whatever Tasmanian weather decides to deliver.

That gives participating brands an abundance of opportunities to show products across genuinely different scenarios and backdrops — without forcing a staged product shoot into the trip.

06 / THE ROUTE
PRELIMINARY ITINERARY / V0.1

A route on paper. An adventure in practice.

The route below is a starting framework built around Tasmania's strongest riding environments: mountain switchbacks, east-coast beaches, Freycinet, the Tasman Peninsula, Bruny Island and the remote west and northwest. The trip is intentionally impromptu — weather, access, local recommendations and whatever looks interesting on the day will shape the actual route.

CONTENT FOCUS Preparation / departure / travel

This itinerary is intentionally preliminary and weather dependent. It is a production framework rather than a fixed route: final roads, timings, overnight stops and day-to-day decisions will remain flexible and may change impromptu in response to weather, access, local conditions and production opportunities.

08 / THE TEAM
THREE RIDERS / TWO PHOTOGRAPHERS / ONE REAL JOB

Three mates, three different perspectives.

RIDER / 01 // CREATIVE LEAD

Brad

PHOTOGRAPHER / ADV RIDER

Commercial automotive and lifestyle photographer, recently relocated to Australia. His day job is large-scale automotive campaigns, but motorcycles have always been part of his client work — and when he isn't shooting, he is usually exploring the forest on his 450MT.

Brad caught the ADV bug on a BMW Motorrad job in 2024. A 1300 GS proved a lot of bike for the bush, so a smaller-capacity machine became the stepping stone. He is now ready for a few extra horsepower.

RIDER / 02 // VISUALS

Jon

PHOTOGRAPHER / THE ARTISTIC ONE

The Spanish mate who is still mostly riding sealed roads on his MT-07, but is eager to step further into the adventure world. Jon and Brad first met while backpacking Australia in 2016 and have stayed mates through annual motorcycle trips around Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.

Also a photographer, Jon's portfolio spans travel, adventure and motorcycles. He is the artistic one of the group — the person most likely to go to unreasonable lengths to find the angle and capture the scene properly.

David wearing a motorcycle helmet and riding jacket
RIDER / 03 // FIELD TEST

David

RIDER / THE SENSIBLE ONE

Being the sensible sibling, David climbed the corporate ladder in London and got a real job. His days off were less sensible: touring Europe on an MT-09, mixing in the occasional track day, and joining Brad for a lap of New Zealand in 2020.

He was roped into the BMW job in 2024 and caught the ADV bug aboard a 1300 GSA. Being vertically challenged, he has since “downsized” to a Kove 800X Rally — and is fully converted to middleweight adventure bikes.
